Plastic welding solutions
BASICS
The laser beam passes through the transparent material and melts locally the
absorbent polymer. Due to the heat transmission, the transparent material is
melting too, and both polymers (chemically compatible) are mixed. After cooling
a perfect melt will join the two materials. In order to optimize this melting,
a certain clamping pressure should be applied. This whole process is local and
takes a minimum of time.

Transparent plastics laser welding
BASICS
Plastics, in their natural state, do not absorb near-infrared light. Therefore
the high energy of NIR lasers transmits directly through them. Laser light must
be absorbed at the joint interface to generate enough heat to produce a weld.
Clearweld® is a revolutionary process for laser welding plastics without the
use of carbon or the addition of unwanted colour. The application of Clearweld®
is the flexible solution for joining transparent or opaque thermoplastics.
ADVANTAGES
High
weld speeds.
Clean,
optically clear
3D

Accurate
control of weld dimension and position.
Rapid
changeover to different products.
Precise
control of process parameters.
Controlled
