Lasea plastic welding systems used in phamaceutical industry
Thanks to its special "flat-top" optical system, Lasea has provided 34 systems to Aseptic Technologies (GSK) for re-sealing the stopper in order to restore the closure integrity after the filling.
Aseptic Technologies develops a new container for aseptic filling. This container is a clean and sterile closed vial filled by a needle piercing the stopper for liquid delivery and then laser re-sealed to restore the closure integrity
The key advantages are a better sterility assurance level for the patient, a reduction of investment and operating expenses for pharmaceutical manufacturers and a better safety during supply chain.
Aseptic Technologies is bringing the closed vial technology closer to the market with several key steps completed or close to be completed:
First stability batches have been launched, other batches are already planned to be launched in the coming weeks with commercial products
The new format of clinical line, including two filling heads instead of one, has been built successfully
The mechanical validation of the production pilot line has been completed and its pharma validation is planned to be completed by December
A new pharmaceutical facility is under finalization with the objective of performing filling of clinical lots
