The last decade has seen significant improvements in the application of solar control glazings in vehicles. The main drivers are:
- Passenger comfort
- Lowering the load on the vehicle's air conditioning unit and therefore decreasing the fuel consumption
- Minimizing the degradation effect of the sun's radiation on interior trims
The increasing market demand for high performance solar control products has led the automotive glass suppliers to develop an infrared reflecting glazings. Constructed from a metallic coating applied directly onto the glass or on PET films, it reflects more than four times the sun's energy when compared to standard glass.
However, non-coated area on glass are necessary, such as those required for the transmission of electromagnetic waves:
- Telepass window (motorway automatic payment)
- Rain sensor
Lasea provides the optimum solution to remove coating on glass and PET films (patented technology).
KE-Series machines are designed for two glass versions:
- Flat coated glass
- Curved coated glass
Compared to current technologies (masking, chemical and abrasion) the main advantages of the laser solution are:
- Non aggressive process
- Low maintenance
- Insignificant variable costs
- Flexible (the designs are easily modifiable through a dedicated computer interface)
- Ecological process.
